Zayats holds a Candidate’s Degree in Sociology and MA in Sociology from Lancaster University, Great Britain. His research focuses on the interaction between people and their material environment embodied in the social-spatial units of a courtyard, park, square, children’s playground, etc. Zayats publishes articles in international professional journals, he is a regular participant of Ukrainian and international research conferences. In 2011 and 2013, Zayats won the Silver and the Bronze Awards of the Institute of Sociology of the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences in the “Best Young Sociologist of the Year” competition. Since 2014, Zayats works in community management and participatory design as a team member of the SOOBSHCHA [together] Research Laboratory. The Laboratory has performed dozens of commissions from the civil and business sectors in public space research and programming for Auchan, IKEA and other companies. Since 2017, Zayats joined the Kharkiv School of Architecture as a lecturer of Sociology.
