REuse

“REuse” is a system of modular furniture and attachable elements that reimagines conventional playgrounds as shared public spaces. The project proposes adding new functions to existing structures, creating places for relaxation, play, social interaction, and gardening without the need for extensive new construction.

The system consists of benches, tables, arches, and attachable modules that can be combined and adapted to the needs of a particular space. Benches and tables provide places for relaxation and shared activities, arches help organize the space and support climbing plants, while attachable modules integrate into existing playground structures, providing additional surfaces, seating, and play elements. Thanks to its modular design, the system can be easily reconfigured, offering different possibilities for both children and adults.

The project is based on the principle of reuse: high-quality public space does not always require new construction. Reimagining existing infrastructure creates new opportunities for interaction and the formation of local communities.

Wave

“Wave” is a structure whose form creates a sense of movement and direction. As this year’s construction practice focused on intergenerational interaction, the Wave incorporates low, gentle sections that symbolize the calmness gained with age, alongside high, steep rises that represent children reaching upwards as they grow, full of energy and vitality.

Its form shapes the activities that can take place around it, while its elongated, linear composition emphasizes the surrounding environment. Despite its dynamic character, the Wave seeks to strike a balance between generations.

RADIUS

“Radius” is a wooden seating structure designed around an existing tree. Its semicircular form creates a comfortable and accessible space for relaxation, conversation, and interaction among residents, while preserving the tree as its central natural element. A net attached to the tree serves as a backrest for the bench. The structure also includes an open section that provides wheelchair access, making the space more inclusive.

The tree serves not only as the centre and supporting element of the structure but also as a symbol of the passage of time. It grows and changes alongside people, reminding us of the continuity of life and our connection with nature. The wooden structure itself will also change over time, gradually accumulating its own history and memories of shared moments.

Vise Versa (Amphitheatr+)

The “Vice Versa” concept creates a dynamic space that combines two contrasting scenarios of use without altering the structure itself. Its inner section takes the form of an amphitheatre facing the centre, creating an open space for social interaction, neighbourly connections, and community events. The outer section faces nature, offering a more intimate atmosphere for quiet relaxation, solitude, and gardening in specially designed modules.

The project is inclusive and barrier-free, designed to accommodate people of all ages and levels of mobility.

Children can freely explore the hill while adults relax nearby. The opportunity to plant and care for greenery allows every resident to develop a sense of ownership and belonging.

“Vice Versa” seeks to strike a balance between community, accessibility, and personal comfort.

Contrasting experiences can coexist.
