Important: This workshop will help you to apply for a unique master’s program at the KhSA, which will start in September 2025. The workshop aims to develop, test, and disseminate the content, curriculum, and pedagogy of the new KhSA Master’s course.

The first workshop already took place last winter, where 30 participants in Lviv and 30 participants in Warsaw worked on researching the city of Dnipro at 4 scales: river, city, district, and home. The workshop ended with an exhibition that later traveled to Kyiv.

Do you have any questions about the terms of participation? Contact us at [email protected] or in the telegram: t.me/kharkivschoolofarchitecture

  • Can I take part in the workshop if I am still studying for a bachelor's or master's degree?

Yes! And even if you’re not currently studying but have an academic background in architecture and are curious about applying to the KhSA MA program, or to gain further practical and theoretical knowledge and experience in architecture and urban planning and design in the Ukrainian context of future transformation and reconstruction.

  • How does this year's workshop relate to the 2025 Venice Biennale?

The KhSA has been invited to join 5 other international universities in submitting work to the French Pavilion for the Biennale 2025. The theme of the Biennale is “Living With” and the French Pavilion will focus on “Atlas of Risks”.

  • What will be the activities during the workshop besides teamwork?

We will be building a pop-up exhibition as the main outcome of the workshop, held on the final day of the workshop, the material will then travel on to an exhibition in Kyiv in March 2025.

  • HOW WILL THE STUDENTS FROM LVIV AND WARSAW COOPERATE?

While we would prefer to have all workshop participants in one physical location in Ukraine, the current realities prevent this. For that reason, we will arrange virtual studio rooms where students from Warsaw and Lviv will collaborate together and interact with teachers from different locations as well. Students from both locations will be divided into four different studio groups, integrating and mixing students from different backgrounds.

  • WHAT WILL BE THE FORMAT OF THE WORKSHOP?

The workshop will consist of design studio group work complemented by lectures and talks by invited guests. It will be a great chance to get to know other students and young professionals in Ukraine and abroad. The outcome of the proposals created by students will be an exhibition which will launch simultaneously in Warsaw and Lviv, and then travel to Kyiv. The developed  proposals will be featured as part of the French Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2025.

  • HOW MUCH DOES THE PARTICIPATION IN THE WORKSHOP COST?

Thanks to the generous support of our partners, the workshop will be free for all participants! Just apply! A select number of participants traveling within Ukraine from outside Lviv will qualify for sponsorships for transportation or/and accommodation in Lviv.

  • WHO CAN QUALIFY FOR SPONSORSHIP FOR TRANSPORTATION AND ACCOMMODATION?

A limited number of participants who are traveling from outside of Lviv qualify. Notify us in your application if you need accommodation or transportation and we will then contact you to make arrangements.

  • HOW WILL THE WORKSHOP HELP ME TO ENROLL INTO THE MA?

By participating in the workshop, you will get to know the atmosphere of KhSA and we will get the chance to meet you. Also participants of the workshop who are successfully admitted into the MA will be offered a discounted tuition rate of 15%.

  • WHO WILL BE THE PROFESSORS OF THE WORKSHOP?

Professors and professionals from the participating universities and schools, as well as invited guests who are practitioners, researchers, and academics.
