23 June, 19:00 – 20:30 EEST
This lecture will not only look into history but also at the future of modernization and reconstruction. Partly it will look into the catalogue of series referring to the Soviet type series built-in Ukraine between 1955 and 1991 (plus type series after 1992). But also the building typologies of houses that were not prefabricated but are important within the context of residential architecture.
Speakers:

Malaia’s writing has been published in venues including East/West: Journal of Ukrainian Studies, PLATFORM, Architectural Histories, and the Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians. Her book Taking the Soviet Union Apart Room by Room: Domestic Architecture Before and After 1991 is forthcoming with NIUP/Cornell University Press in 2023. Together with Philipp Meuser, she is currently working on a catalogue of mass-built housing series in Ukraine
