Ghinițoiu was born in Romania, where he got his architectural training. After moving to Germany, in 2014, he obtained MA from Dessau International Architecture (DIA), Germany, and worked there for two years. Soon afterwards, he switched to photography as a tool to document architecture and travelled the world implementing independent and commissioned projects.
Ghinițoiu’s works have won prizes at international competitions in architectural photography, including Arcaid Awards (2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018) and Sony Awards (2016), and are published by Architectural Record, Phaidon, Domus, and A+U. Ghinițoiu also conducts workshops in photography at the DIA and master-classes at architectural schools. His approach consists in a patient search for meaningful visual moments, when developed and informal elements of artificial environment coexist in the objective, but sensitive look. This collection of images by Ghinițoiu sends us on a round-the-world journey, balancing physical and social topics of contemporary urban landscape.
