Mykola is an actor and a theatre maker from Kharkiv, Ukraine. He is a founder and an artistic director of Physical theatre studio located in Lviv and he is also a manager of a cultural project “Kharkiv residence Slovo”.
After receiving his bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance in Newcastle University (UK), Mykola went on to study acting at The Lir National Academy of Dramatic Art at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. His passion for physical and devised theatre brought him to L’école internationale de théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris, which he graduated from in 2021. As of today, Mykola has devised and performed in numerous theatre productions in Ukraine, France, Germany and the UK. He also acted in and co-produced the film directed by Jonathan Ben-Shaul, which artistically investigates the dynamic influence of Kharkiv’s soviet architecture on its citizens. Most recently Mykola has also co-published the book «Les Kurbas “ The philosophy of theatre”» and co-created an artistic exhibition based on this book.
Over the past four years Mykola has run physical theatre workshops in Ivan Franko National University (Lviv), National Kotlyarevsky University of Arts (Kharkiv), The Kharkiv State Academy of Culture, Ukrainian Catholic University (Lviv), Theatre «Neft» (Kharkiv) and Theatre «On Simon’s Pillars» (Lviv).
In autumn 2021 Mykola joined the pedagogical team at Kharkiv School of Architecture, where he runs movement courses.
